Selfworth; Experience, knowledge and contacts have a value.

You reach a point in your profesional life that people will admire you for your knowledge and experience. You have managed to distinguish yourself from others, establish a credibility and reputation in your field. But who is willing to pay and how much? My experience has taught me that love and favors do not pay the bills. Equally, a paying client has the right to demand from you. If you friends hire you, can they treat you the same way? When do you distinguish both scenarios? Will you cheapen yourself to acquire a client o will you exceed your expectations? This expertise brings a portfolio of contact and alliances that can be very valuable. How much is that purchasing power worth in the market? All these points create an image, which is what you want to sell to the customer. Experience, knowledge and contacts all bundled in one.

It's funny to hear rookies in the business world, using the latest "Buzz Words"  especially in the field of marketings or the technology sector. With all due respect to experience, there is nothing more annoying than a novice trying to sound too smart. However, will that impress the client? You can use those phrases and assume a tone of what is happening in the field, or just keep it traditional and demonstrates your knowledge.

In principle, no matter what you do; if you are good, your customer will follow. Regardless of who you work for; YOUR customer service, knowledge and loyalty will create a bond that can last for many years. During the course of those years is when you acquired knowledge that can help and guide your client in capitalize in their product. Your contacts will help them sell it.

After all, how much are you worth? Analyze your experience, your competitors, your colleagues. But, never cheapen yourself. You have put a lot of effort to let it go to waste or let it not be appreciated. Sometimes we have to modify our self to the current market value, but do not devalue your expertise, at the long run if you cheapen yourself, a bad client will not even notice and still complain. A good paying customer knows the value of what he is paying for. Or Not?
